I grew up in South Carolina, primarily in Charleston. My B.A. is from the University of South Carolina (with credits from the Univ. of Georgia and the Univ. of Arizona). I completed a year toward a Masters in Comparative Literature at Indiana University in Bloomington, and I received my M.S.L.S. from Columbia University in New York. That was a fun year living on Riverside Drive in Mahattan.
I have worked as a librarian at HCPL for 27 years. I took a year off in 1986-87 to go with my husband (now ex) abroad when he taught on U.S. Air Force bases in England, Greece, Spain, and Turkey. We were able to travel a lot on weekends and in other countries during the weeks between posts. We "adopted" four kittens from the streets of Greece and Turkey and had no difficulty transporting them between countries and back to the U.S. The last remaining cat died this year at the age of 20.
In recent years my hobbies have been playing golf and going out dancing, but recently I have spent a lot of time helping my 95-year-old mother.
